Long Beach’s Annual Ranchos Walk Returns Saturday, Sept. 26
The City of Long Beach’s 8 annual Ranchos Walk will return on Saturday, Sept. 26. This unique hiking experience invites participants to explore a 9.4-mile urban trail that links Rancho Los Alamitos and Rancho Los Cerritos, highlighting some of the City’s most notable historic features and showcasing Long Beach’s development over time.
In addition to the full hike, the walk also offers shorter 3.5-mile and 6-mile route options. All routes will end at Rancho Los Alamitos, where participants can enjoy a fun afternoon of music, games and activities. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase.
This year’s local history theme will educate walkers about the people, places and events that have shaped the city. Participants will be able to access a free audio tour using the IZI travel app which is available for download on Apple and Android devices.
This event is part of the City’s broader efforts to improve traffic safety, support safe and create walkable infrastructure. Over the past year, California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), Caltrans Active Transportation Program (ATP) and Port of Long Beach funds have helped the City expand traffic safety education and outreach, reaching more than 8,300 community members through school presentations, youth programs, community events and safety demonstrations.
The City also recently hosted its sixth annual Safe Streets Awareness Week, a series of free community events promoting traffic safety, active transportation and stronger neighborhood connections.
