From spooky thrills to outdoor concerts and movies for the family, Long Beach is packed with ways to make the most of the weekend. Here’s what’s happening:
Summer Music in the Garden
Date: Friday, Aug. 7
Time: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Location: Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden (1250 Bellflower Blvd.)
What to Expect: Bring your picnic blankets and enjoy the sound of music in the garden
during the continuation of this evening summer concert series.
Cost: Ticketed event
Date: Friday, Aug. 7
Time: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Location: 4301 Atlantic Ave.
What to Expect: Enjoy special shopping and dining opportunities during this monthly first Fridays event series featuring live music and art.
Cost: Free
Date: Friday, Aug. 7 through Sunday, Aug. 9
Time: 6 to 10 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday (not including the after party); 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday
Location: Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center
What to Expect: This popular Halloween and horror convention includes haunted attractions, horror films, appearances by celebrities (including cast members from “Scream,” celebrating the movie’s 30th anniversary), a pumpkin patch, black cat lounge and more.
