Move over, big-boxes, Long Beach is rolling out the welcome mat for one of the most heartfelt holiday traditions of the year: Small Business Saturday.

Taking place Nov. 29, 2025, the special shopping day lands right between the stampede of Black Friday and the pixel-packed Cyber Monday, inviting residents to slow down, stroll their favorite streets and support local brick-and-mortars.

Small Business Saturday began in 2010 as a nationwide movement to remind shoppers that big holiday spirit often comes in small packages. Here in Long Beach, shopping small packs a big punch for the community, according to Long Beach’s Department of Economic Development & Opportunity (EDO).

Local purchases help keep the economy humming, support local jobs and strengthen the sense of community pride that makes neighborhoods feel like home. It’s money that doesn’t just leave the register — it stays in Long Beach.

Whether shoppers are looking for handmade accessories, tasty treats or the perfect one-of-a-kind gift, small businesses are ready to sleigh the season. Long Beach is home to an impressive lineup of unique storefronts and eclectic community business districts: from the beach casual vibes of Second Street’s Belmont Shore and Downtown’s Shoreline Village to funky vintage finds along Fourth Street’s Retro Row. Whether you’re looking for artisanal coffee Uptown in Bixby Knolls or a shirt from Joe Jost’s in Zaferia, there’s something for everyone at every price point.

To encourage shopping local, the City is offering free metered parking on Nov. 29 at several locations, including street parking south of 10th Street Downtown and several lots and street spaces in Belmont Shore. City Place garages in Downtown will continue to offer two hours of free parking without the need for validation.

Residents can also follow the EDO on social media throughout the season as the City highlights local shops, business districts and the joys of community-powered commerce.
