Long Beach Airport Lands $60 Million Private Investment with Sky Harbour
A major project is taking flight at Long Beach Airport. The Long Beach City Council has approved a 50-year lease agreement with Sky Harbour, paving the way for a $60 million aeronautical campus on roughly 17 acres of underutilized airfield on the airport’s west side.
The project will introduce state-of-the-art aircraft hangars for corporate jets, a modern terminal and office complex, onsite parking with electric vehicle charging stations, and even a publicly accessible open-air restaurant.
Once complete, the development is expected to create about 650 local jobs through construction, campus operations, and related business services—supporting Long Beach’s economy and its growing aviation sector.
While the project will still undergo environmental review and additional approvals, Sky Harbour has a track record of developing high-quality, purpose-built aviation campuses across the U.S. The company was selected earlier this year through a competitive Request for Proposals process for its experience in aviation infrastructure and its commitment to excellence.
The Sky Harbour development marks another milestone in Long Beach Airport’s continued investment in its facilities, ensuring that the airport remains a regional leader in aviation, innovation and economic opportunity.
