Long Beach is building a more connected, accessible and sustainable city with the expansion of its LB Circuit fleet, a complimentary micro-transit service that operates in select high impact areas around the local coastline, connecting neighborhoods from Belmont Shore and all the way over to the Queen Mary.

Recent updates to the service include extended hours on Sundays and the addition of more comfortable and inclusive service vehicles for passengers of all abilities.

Facilitated by the City’s Public Works Department and operated by vendors Circuit Inc., the previous fleet of electric shuttles is now joined by six new electric vehicles, including four newly added SUVs with extended driving ranges and two new ADA-accessible vans, bringing the fleet to a total of 14 clean-air vehicles.

By providing a sustainable mode of transportation to popular areas of Long Beach, LB Circuit is increasing community connections to local businesses, reducing traffic congestion and parking impacts, and cutting greenhouse gas emissions.

Previously the service operated in two designated, separate routes – Belmont Shore and a narrower scope of Downtown Long Beach.

With the expansion, riders can now hop aboard one of the fleet’s five-passenger EVs and more easily explore popular, parking impacted areas Downtown, now reaching further south to the Queen Mary and north to include the zone between 7th and 10th Streets and Atlantic and Magnolia Avenues, and new areas in Bluff Heights, Bluff Park and Belmont Heights.

Since beginning operations in fall 2022, LB Circuit has provided more than 130,000 zero-fare rides, preventing an estimated 27 tons of greenhouse gas emissions from polluting the environment.

LB Circuit supports the City’s continued efforts through the Climate Action Plan to enhance the frequency, speed, connectivity and safety of transit options in Long Beach to become a more sustainable and resilient city.

In addition to offering accessible connections to different Long Beach neighborhoods, the service also offers a convenient “first-last mile” connection between public transportation hubs and riders’ final destinations, linking popular locations and easing congestion in high-traffic areas.

The service operates four days a week as follows:

  • Thursdays and Fridays: 4 to 10 p.m.
  • Saturdays: Noon to 10 p.m.
  • Sundays: Noon to 8 p.m. (previously noon to 6 p.m.)

To start riding, folks can download the Circuit app on the App Store or Google Play.
