Long Beach is putting down roots for a greener future with its Urban Forest Plan.

To plant the first seeds, a virtual kickoff meeting for the Urban Forest Plan is scheduled Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., giving residents a chance to learn, share ideas and grow the conversation about trees.

The online workshop, led by the Office of Climate Action & Sustainability in partnership with nonprofit City Fabrick, will introduce what the Urban Forest Plan is all about and how it can make Long Beach a cooler, healthier and more livable place.

City officials will discuss the state of the City’s current tree canopy, how they will identify neighborhoods most in need of new plantings, and Long Beach’s goals for sustainability, climate resilience and equity.

Feedback gathered during the meeting will help guide future recommendations for tree planting and maintenance for a thriving, long-lasting urban forest.

Registration is required to attend the free event. For more information or to register, visit lbcity.info/forest.

For those who cannot attend the meeting, the City is also collecting feedback through an online survey through Friday, Oct. 31.
