Parks are at the heart of our communities, providing spaces for families to gather, play and grow. The City of Long Beach is excited to unveil a refreshed playground at Ramona Park, designed to inspire creativity and connection for children of all ages.

Residents are invited to celebrate the completion of the Ramona Park Signature Playground Project at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. Following a brief program, families dive into the fun and explore the new features themselves.

This long-awaited upgrade brings new life to a playground that hadn’t been updated in over 20 years. The new Under the Sea–themed design invites kids of all ages and abilities to discover, climb and play among ocean-inspired structures. Parents and caregivers can relax nearby under new shaded seating areas, stay cool with misters, and enjoy hydration stations.

Accessibility was also top of mind in this redesign. The playground now includes ADA-compliant features like accessible play equipment, curb ramps, improved pathways, parking striping and clear signage—ensuring everyone can join in on the fun.

The Ramona Park improvements are part of the City’s Elevate ’28 Infrastructure Investment Plan, a citywide effort to enhance parks, public spaces and community amenities. These projects reflect Long Beach’s commitment to creating vibrant, inclusive spaces where residents can connect, play and thrive.
