Long Beach’s Beaches Earn Top Water Quality Grades
Long Beach’s beaches have once again received high marks for clean water, with 100% of monitored sites earning A or B grades in Heal the Bay’s 2024–2025 Annual Beach Report Card.
According to the findings, Long Beach maintained strong water quality during both the dry summer months and the winter dry period. Of the 15 monitored beaches, 11 received A grades and four earned B grades for the summer season.
The report card evaluates beaches across California based on bacteria levels that indicate potential pollution, helping residents and visitors understand health conditions for swimming and recreation.
This marks the fifth consecutive year that no Long Beach beaches appeared on Heal the Bay’s “Beach Bummer” list.
With more than six miles of public beaches and a robust water monitoring program, Long Beach remains focused on maintaining clean, safe coastal waters year-round.
Current water quality information is available through the City’s Environmental Health Bureau webpage. The full Heal the Bay report can be found at healthebay.org.
