Jamboree Housing Corporation officially broke ground on an important housing project that will provide a path to stability, wellness and community connection. The project was supported by a loan and gap financing from The Long Beach Community Investment Company working on behalf of the City of Long Beach.

The new development, called The 101 due to its location at 101 E. Pacific Coast Highway, will become a 52-unit permanent supportive housing community. Designed to serve individuals who are considered to have low income and families who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing homelessness, the project is a place where residents will be able to continue to build their lives with dignity and support.

Each one-bedroom unit is fully furnished and offers privacy, safety and a sense of home. But the impact of the project goes well beyond the front door. Residents will have access to on-site support services including mental health care, case management and life skills development. These services will help residents stay housed, improve their health and explore new opportunities.

Community spaces are also a key feature of the project. With a shared outdoor green area with a barbeque and dining space and communal laundry facilities, the building is designed to encourage social connection and a sense of belonging.

When the 101 is completed (expected late 2026) it will join the growing list of affordable housing developments that have recently been built in the city. The City, through its Community Development Department, is continuing its fast-track efforts to support the building of safe, quality housing for residents across all income levels, while increasing the development of underused sites across the city. Last year, four other affordable housing projects welcomed in new residents—The Cove in West Long Beach, 26 Point 2 near the Traffic Circle, Wellspring in Cambodia Town and Heritage Gardens in the Midtown area. Additionally, construction was started for 1400 Long Beach in the Midtown area and 300 Alamitos in the Alamitos Beach area.

The City recognizes that supporting great affordable housing developments not only benefits the people that call them home, but it also uplifts the entire community, making Long Beach stronger and more resilient.
