Honoring the past while putting a fresh foot forward, Long Beach’s annual Ranchos Walk has become a beloved community tradition over the past seven years.

This year on Saturday, Sept. 20, residents are again invited to trace the City’s roots along a guided 9.4-mile route linking the Rancho Los Alamitos and Rancho Los Cerritos historic sites.
The hundreds of walkers expected to take part in the free event will travel across some of the highest points in Long Beach and Signal Hill. Along the way, they will summit Reservoir Hill, pause at Longview Point in Willow Springs Park, and soak in the sweeping views from Hilltop Park.
If that sounds like too long of a journey, there are also shorter 3.5- and 6-mile alternative routes.
At the end of the walk, shuttle services return participants to each start location.
No matter which path is taken, all roads lead to a celebration at Rancho Los Cerritos with music, games, activities and giveaways—including limited-edition pins and bandanas. Food, beverages and additional merchandise will be available for purchase.

This year’s theme spotlights the city’s urban forest, with a free audio tour to guide walkers through the stories of local trees and their environmental benefits.
So grab a hat, some sunscreen and your walking shoes to rediscover Long Beach, one step at a time.
Participation is free, but registration is required at lbcity.info/rw, where there’s a map of the routes and other details, including frequently asked questions.
