West Long Beach business owners and neighbors are invited to come together, grab a cup of coffee and be part of a conversation about the future of the local business community.

The Department of Economic Development & Opportunity is hosting a free morning meetup on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at Casa Chaskis (2380 Santa Fe Ave.). The gathering will focus on the idea of forming a West Long Beach business association along the Santa Fe Avenue corridor from Anaheim to Willow streets. Local business owners and community members can learn more and share their thoughts.

City staff have been spending time connecting with businesses along the corridor to better understand what’s working, what’s needed and what opportunities lie ahead. This event builds on that work, including a Westside Long Beach Economic and Market Study, and will include updates on what the City has learned so far.

Attendees will also hear about the Westside Promise, a citywide initiative aimed at supporting job creation, expanding workforce training and encouraging long-term economic growth in West Long Beach. The presentation, led by the City’s Community Development Department, will offer a big-picture look at how different efforts are coming together to support the area.

Business owners, property owners and community members are encouraged to attend, ask questions and be part of shaping what comes next for the Westside. Those planning to attend the free event are encouraged to RSVP online.
