Alert Long Beach Restored and Ready for Sign-Ups
Alert Long Beach is back online and ready to keep residents and businesses informed during emergencies. The City’s emergency notification system has been restored on a new, enhanced platform.
The system delivers timely, localized emergency information directly to subscribers, including evacuation notices and other critical public safety updates. While Wireless Emergency Alerts are automatically sent to mobile phones through FEMA’s national system, signing up for Alert Long Beach ensures residents receive additional targeted notifications specific to their area.
The system was temporarily suspended last year following a nationwide cybersecurity incident that impacted the vendor’s legacy platform. No sensitive personally identifiable information, such as Social Security numbers or birth dates, was compromised. The vendor has since decommissioned the legacy system and migrated all users, including the City of Long Beach, to a newly secured platform that has undergone comprehensive security testing and upgrades.
More than 24,000 existing contacts were successfully transferred to the new platform, and those already registered do not need to sign up again.
Residents and businesses who are not yet registered are strongly encouraged to sign up at AlertLB.com. Registering takes just a few minutes and helps ensure you receive critical updates that can protect you, your loved ones and your property during emergencies.
