The City of Long Beach is making it easier for residents to file their taxes. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, the City will host a free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) event at Silverado Park Community Center (1545 W. 31st St.). Eligible residents can receive professional income tax preparation services and apply for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

VITA is a nationally recognized program sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service to assist individuals and families with low-to-moderate incomes. The program helps ensure residents receive eligible tax credits, including the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit, which can provide a meaningful financial boost.

The VITA program is available to qualifying Long Beach taxpayers earning $67,000 or less annually. Trained volunteers will be on site to assist residents in preparing and filing their tax returns accurately and securely.

The event supports the City’s Westside Promise Initiative, a 10-year community investment plan focused on strengthening neighborhoods in West Long Beach through coordinated services, partnerships and targeted resources. As part of its Financial Empowerment Commitment, the initiative is working to expand access to safe banking services, financial literacy and economic opportunity for residents.

Appointments are encouraged but not required. Residents may schedule a time in advance online or by calling 323.909.1975.

For more information about required documents and how to prepare for your appointment, visit the CSULB VITA webpage.
