Long Beach Celebrates Opening of New Fire Station 9
Firefighters in North Long Beach have a new home base with the opening of a completely rebuilt Fire Station 9.
Located at 4101 Long Beach Blvd., the modern station replaces the former facility at 3917 Long Beach Blvd. and serves the neighborhoods of Los Cerritos, Bixby Knolls and California Heights.
The two-story, 12,779-square-foot building—which hosted an official ribbon cutting on Oct. 20—includes modern living and working spaces and can accommodate up to five fire vehicles.
The redevelopment is part of Long Beach’s ongoing effort to upgrade its emergency response facilities and give firefighters the space and resources they need to best serve the community.
Construction began in 2024 and included rebuilding the site and improving nearby infrastructure. The new station features rooftop solar panels, energy-efficient lighting, water-saving fixtures and efficient heating and cooling systems. It was designed to meet standards for LEED Silver certification, a benchmark for environmentally friendly buildings.
The project extended beyond the station itself, with drought-tolerant landscaping, upgraded sidewalks, utility improvements and roadway work in the surrounding area.
A new traffic signal at Long Beach Boulevard and East Randolph Place was also installed to improve access for emergency vehicles.
