Long Beach youth are getting their own space to interact and get involved in their communities as the City of Long Beach introduces Youth Connect, a three-day event series aimed at connecting young people ages 13 to 26 to valuable resources and promoting civic engagement.

Each day of the event series will include interactive activities centered around a specific theme at two different locations within Long Beach:

  • Youth Connect Through Voting - Tuesday, April 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. at City Hall (411 W. Ocean Blvd.): Attendees will participate in Youth Power Participatory Budgeting, a program that gives youth the ability to decide how public funds will be invested in youth programming within the City. Enjoy food and entertainment and learn about community organizations on the ballot.
  • Youth Connect Through Culture – Saturday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at City Hall (411 W. Ocean Blvd.): Mayor Richardson will be hosting a fireside chat, featuring a special guest, as a celebration of youth culture in Long Beach. City Hall Plaza will also be brought to life with various wellness and art-centered activities.
  • Youth Connect Through Climate Action – Thursday, April 30, from 12 to 6 p.m. at Long Beach City College Trade (1305 E. Pacific Coast Hwy): Attendees will attend a career exploration panel and workforce resource fair focused on climate action and workforce development.

Youth Connect is designed to give young people in Long Beach the tools, confidence and connections to shape their local community. For more information on this event and the Office of Youth Development, visit longbeach.gov/youth.
