A new space for stories, play and family fun is now open in downtown Long Beach.

The Long Beach Public Library celebrated the grand opening of its new Children’s Terrace at the Billie Jean King Main Library on Saturday, May 16. The event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, family-friendly activities and the official debut of the library’s newest outdoor community space.

After the ceremony, families enjoyed a morning packed with activities, including story time, hands-on crafts and popsicles. Children also had the opportunity to meet Filipino American children’s author Rachell Abalos, author of “Our Nipa Hut: A Story in the Philippines.”
