Long Beach residents are invited to hear directly from Mayor Rex Richardson when he delivers the 2026 State of the City Address on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Terrace Theater.

During the speech, Richardson is expected to highlight progress on several key City priorities, including housing affordability, homelessness prevention, neighborhood safety, infrastructure improvements and enhanced City services. He will also share updates on the City’s Grow Long Beach initiative, including new jobs, major investments and expanded opportunities for small businesses, youth and the local workforce.

This year’s theme for the State of the City Address is “A Future Built by All of Us,” focusing on the people, creativity and community spirit that shape Long Beach.

Looking ahead, the mayor will share updates on Long Beach’s role as a global destination for arts, culture and major events. That includes planning efforts tied to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as developments in live entertainment, local sports, cultural programming and community spaces.

The program will feature live music, guest performances, appearances by local youth and community voices, and exclusive previews of upcoming attractions.

The address begins at 5:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Residents can attend the event in person or watch it live online. The address will be livestreamed on the City of Long Beach Facebook and X pages @LongBeachCity and on YouTube @LongBeachCityCA, as well as through the mayor’s Facebook page @LongBeachMayor, and on Long Beach Television at LBTV3.com.

Those planning to attend in person must RSVP. Doors to the Terrace Theater lobby open at 4:30 p.m., with food and beverages available for purchase before and after the address inside the lobby and on the plaza outside. Free parking will be available in the Convention Center parking lots at 400 Seaside Way.

Interpretation services in Spanish, Khmer, Tagalog, and American Sign Language will be provided for in-person attendees. Closed captioning will also be available both at the event and on the livestreams.
