Pet of the Week: Black Cat Amy Wants to be Lucky in Love
Amy is a petite 1-year-old domestic short hair with striking green eyes, a silky all-black coat and a hopeful heart that’s ready to find a forever family.
Weighing just 4.62 pounds, Amy (A743553) may be small, but she has plenty of love to give. Her glossy black fur and bright, curious eyes make her a real beauty, and at just a year old, she has her whole life ahead of her. Like many young cats, Amy is ready to trade shelter life at Long Beach Animal Care Services for sunny windowsills, cozy naps and a special person to call her own.
Amy’s soulful green eyes and sleek ebony coat give her a timeless elegance. Unfortunately though, black cats like Amy are often overlooked in shelters and can spend longer waiting to be adopted than cats with lighter or more colorful coats.
Animal welfare organizations have long noted that myths, superstitions and the difficulty of photographing dark-coated pets can contribute to lower adoption rates. Yet black cats are every bit as affectionate, playful and deserving of loving homes as any other feline companion.
If you’ve been considering adding a feisty little friend to your family, Amy would love the chance to be lucky in love.
