This Weekend in Long Beach: Indie Films, Live Music and More to Explore
From locally made short films and a murder mystery dinner to a guided garden meditation, there’s plenty to see and do this weekend in Long Beach. Here are a few highlights:
Date: Friday-Sunday, Aug. 28-30
Time: Celebrations and showtimes vary
Location: Art Theatre (2025 E. 4th St.)
What to Expect: The historic Art Theatre is home to this annual film festival celebrating independent filmmakers. There’s an opening night party on board the Queen Mary (1126 Queens Highway) on Friday, followed by film screenings at the Art Theatre on Saturday and Sunday.

Summer Music in the Garden
Date: Friday, Aug. 28
Time: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Location: Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden (1250 Bellflower Blvd.)
