Flying out of Long Beach Airport just got a little breezier, thanks to a new security screening lane and refreshed layout designed to keep travelers moving.

Ahead of the holiday travel season, LGB has gone from having five security lanes to six, and the queue no longer winds in front of the Ticketing Lobby, meaning less waiting and more time to relax before takeoff.

The update isn’t just about keeping lines moving: it’s part of a larger effort to make traveling through Long Beach as convenient as possible, especially as the Airport prepares to welcome the world for big events like the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The improved layout, designed in partnership with the Transportation Security Administration, will help streamline the screening process and ease congestion during the busiest morning departures and peak travel seasons.

Changes to the TSA’s securing screening area follow on the heels of other recent improvements at LGB, including roadway upgrades and the restoration of the Airport’s Historic Terminal building. Together, these projects are all about making sure passengers can get from curb to gate without turbulence on the ground.

And if the new security lane doesn’t make flying through LGB plane and simple enough, travelers can also take advantage of TSA PreCheck® and CLEAR for an even faster track to paradise—or at least to your next gate.

Ranked the second-best airport in the nation by The Washington Post, Long Beach Airport is already known for its convenience and charm. It’s centrally located between Los Angeles and Orange counties and served by Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines and Southwest Airlines with nonstop service to 21 airports nationwide, including Hawaii, and one-stop connections to nearly 400 cities worldwide.
