Do you have ideas about ways to make your neighborhood even better? The City of Long Beach wants to help you turn those ideas into reality by offering Love Your Block mini-grants of up to $2,500 for community-driven projects.

Grants through Love Your Block, a nationally celebrated program now making its mark in Long Beach, are officially open for applications. The initiative aims to amplify resident-led solutions for neighborhood improvement.

With a special focus on West Long Beach for the first year of the program, Love Your Block will support the City’s Westside Promise Initiative, a 10-year community investment plan to address current and historic challenges facing that neighborhood, with mini-grants that will drive meaningful change by addressing air quality and transportation efficiency for residents, especially youth and older adults.

Think of it as a neighborhood makeover—powered by the people who live there. Mini-grants are designed to fund resident-led projects that tackle real challenges and beautify public spaces. Whether it’s teaching kids about pedestrian and bicycle safety, building momentum for street improvements or promoting clean air, the goal is the same: healthier, more connected communities.

The online application is open now through Friday, Sept. 26, and is available in English, Spanish, Khmer and Tagalog. To apply, residents must be at least 18 years old, live in Long Beach and apply to launch a project in the 90810 ZIP code.

Grant awards will be announced Oct. 16, with projects to be completed by the end of the year.

Nationwide, Love Your Block has already positively impacted nearly 50,000 residents who have improved nearly 4,000 public spaces—creating nearly 800 art displays, cleaning 102,000 square feet of graffiti and removing 6.7 million pounds of trash in 50 cities across 33 states.

While only individual Long Beach residents are eligible to apply, local nonprofits and businesses are encouraged to be part of the movement by donating supplies or volunteering time.

Now it’s time for Long Beach to be part of that movement: One grant. One idea. One block at a time.
