West Long Beach is gearing up for a block party with purpose.
On Saturday, Sept. 13, Admiral Kidd Park will transform into a hub of music, food, art and celebration as neighbors gather for Westside Fest, a free afternoon event marking the second year of the Westside Promise initiative.
Think of it as part neighborhood party, part resource fair and part vision board for the future of West Long Beach. From noon to 4 p.m., families will enjoy food trucks, vendor booths, children’s activities, live music and interactive art stations, facilitated by the Arts Council for Long Beach.

Young festivalgoers will find plenty to keep them smiling—complimentary meals, free haircuts, a clothing swap, a pop-up arcade and even the chance to design their own skateboard with MBK SK8. Meanwhile, Cabrillo High School students and other local performers will bring energy and talent to the stage.
Beyond the fun, the festival doubles as a community showcase. Resource booths will line the park with opportunities to connect with City departments, nonprofits and small businesses. Highlights include a workshop from Long Beach Residents Empowered (LiBRE) and a stop on the City’s Housing and Homelessness Opportunities, Mobilization and Engagement (HOME) Community Roadshow, designed to spark dialogue around some of the community’s most pressing issues.
The event is made possible by the City of Long Beach Community Development Department, in partnership with the Offices of Mayor Rex Richardson and Vice Mayor and Seventh District Councilmember Roberto Uranga, and additional sponsorship from the Port of Long Beach, Long Beach City College, Marathon Los Angeles Refinery and the Long Beach Container Terminal.
At its heart, Westside Fest celebrates the progress of the Westside Promise——a 10-year plan designed to bring more investment, opportunity and livability to West Long Beach. Westside Fest is the chance to see those efforts in action and imagine what’s possible in the years ahead.
