West Long Beach has struck gold—or maybe silver—with the brand-new Silverado Park Signature Playground. The shiny new play space is now open, giving families a place to dig into adventure, climb to new heights and discover a hidden gem in their own neighborhood.
The playground is built with all ages and abilities in mind. Preschoolers have a safe space sized just for them, while older kids can climb, slide and swing on bigger equipment. It’s all designed to encourage sensory, physical and imaginative play in an inviting, accessible environment.
The colorful design is a nugget of creativity, taking its cue from the park’s “We are the Seeds” mural painted or “planted” by artist Mer Young, whose leaf-patterned artwork helps make the playground feel as vibrant as the community it serves.
Families will find smooth ADA-compliant pathways, ramps leading right up to the play equipment and a rubberized surface that cushions tumbles. New picnic tables and benches, including accessible and shaded options, give parents a comfortable place to stake their claim while the kids play.
The Silverado Park Signature Playground uplifts the City’s Westside Promise, a 10-year community investment plan to address current and historic challenges facing West Long Beach, by creating more opportunities for people to come together in healthy, active and fun ways. The $2.45 million project is part of the City’s Elevate ’28 initiative, which is giving Long Beach parks and facilities a boost ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
The tree-lined playground has transformed a corner of Silverado Park into a bright, inviting space that’s sparkling with activity—a real community treasure that families are sure to keep discovering.
