Whether you want to climb on the playground or bring a game to play under the trees, Central Long Beach’s revitalized MacArthur Park welcomes all.
The green space recently reopened after more than a year of extensive renovations. Located at 1321 E. Anaheim Street in the City’s vibrant Cambodia Town neighborhood, the refreshed park boasts many new amenities designed to be both functional and fun.
The upgrades are hard to miss, from accessible playground equipment designed for kids of all ages to whimsical shade structures designed to resemble the thatch-hut roofs found in Southeast Asian countries.
For picnicking individuals or groups, there’s a new pagoda-inspired shade structure as well as fresh landscaping, a re-established lawn and more shade trees, with tables and benches tucked into peaceful corners of the park.
For athletes and fitness lovers, MacArthur Park’s sports courts shine with fresh surfacing, bright lighting and secure fencing.
A newly built walking loop offers a leisurely way to take in the scenery or enjoy a more vigorous workout, with classic and calisthenic fitness stations positioned along the trail.
The renovation, part of the City’s broader Elevate ’28 initiative, reflects years of community input and planning to create a space that supports wellness, play and connection in a way that feels like it belongs to the community it serves.
So lace up your sneakers and come see what’s new at MacArthur Park.
