Long Beach Pedals into National Bike Month
This May, the City of Long Beach is inviting residents to hop on their bikes and hit the road for National Bike Month—a celebration of all the ways cycling brings people together, supports healthy living and makes getting around the city a little more fun.
With more than 150 miles of bikeways and plans to double that network in the years ahead, Long Beach continues to make it easier than ever to ride. Whether it’s a scenic cruise along the San Gabriel River Trail or a quick trip across town there’s a route for everyone to explore.
Join us for a variety of community events throughout the month designed to offer something for a variety of levels. Here’s a snapshot of some of the bike-friendly events happening across Long Beach this May:
- Moonlight Mash, hosted by Pedal Movement, Saturday, May 1 and May 30 at 8 p.m.
A lively, 9-mile nighttime ride through the city, ending with a relaxed beach hangout.
- Note: The City of Long Beach is not directly affiliated with the Moonlight Mash events.
- Recycle Your Bicycle (various parks), Saturday, May 2 at 9 a.m.
Give your gently used, nonmotorized bikes a second life by donating them at designated park locations.
- Pedal to the Metal May Ride at ISM Brewing, Tuesday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m.
