Pet of the Week: German Shepherd Mix Oliver is Ready for Bright Future
This week’s Pet of the Week from Long Beach Animal Care Services is Oliver, a handsome 5-year-old German Shepherd mix with a bright smile and an even brighter future ahead of him.
Oliver is a sweet, sensitive 51-pound pup with warm brown eyes, soft tan-and-black coat and constantly wagging tail. While he can be a little shy when meeting new people, those who take the time to get to know him quickly discover an incredibly smart, gentle dog with so much love to give.
A favorite among volunteers, Oliver enjoys walks, learning new things and spending time with his trusted human friends. He has also done well with other dogs during his time at the shelter, making him a promising companion for a variety of homes.
After spending several months at the shelter, Oliver was selected for the on-campus DIESEL Project through K9 Kismet, a specialized training program that provides additional support to shelter dogs with exceptional potential. Since joining the program, Oliver has worked hard to build confidence, practice good manners and develop the skills he'll need to thrive in a home.
His progress has been remarkable, and the once-timid pup has continued to grow into a confident, eager learner. Now, Oliver is ready for the next step: finding a family of his own.
