CalFresh Delays Affect Thousands in Long Beach: Where to Find Help
Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, about 1.5 million Los Angeles County residents who rely on CalFresh benefits to help pay for groceries will experience delays in receiving their November payments. In Long Beach, more than 93,000 children and adults depend on this vital program for access to food.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has confirmed that no new CalFresh benefits will be issued on Nov. 1. However, benefits already distributed will remain active, and Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards will continue to work. Recipients are not required to spend funds by Nov. 1.
To prevent further delays once benefits resume, CalFresh participants should continue submitting required paperwork such as semi-annual reports (SAR 7) and renewal forms.
