The Hellenic Olympic Committee has selected Long Beach as Greece’s home away from home for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games.

With one of the oldest and most vibrant Greek communities in the United States, Long Beach was selected to serve as Greece’s Team House—or Hellenic Olympic House—and our seaside community promises to be a welcoming space dedicated to showcasing the best of Greece and Olympic pride.

Team Houses are temporary hospitality venues set up by a country’s National Olympic Committee to celebrate athletes and their home country culture while engaging with fans and connecting with the local community. In addition to bringing festive activities, engagements and excitement for the public, they offer additional opportunities for local businesses to get involved and drive additional local economic activity and tourism.

Hosting and celebrating Olympians from the birthplace of the Games themselves, Greece’s Team House will be headquartered at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church. The Hellenic Olympic House plans to host a variety of events and exhibitions related to Greek history, culture and arts, and will serve as a meeting point for all Olympic Game enthusiasts. The House also has plans to host a featured event where community members will have the opportunity to interact with Olympic athletes.

Team Houses like Greece’s are staples of the Games, offering fans, families and athletes a place to gather and relish in the excitement of this global event. So put on your laurel crowns and practice your “Opa!” before the Olympic torch burns bright in 2028.

Hosted by the City of Los Angeles, the 2028 Olympic Games will take place July 14 through July 30, 2028, and the 2028 Paralympic Games will take place Aug. 15 through Aug. 27, 2028. Long Beach will serve as a 2028 Venue City set to stage the largest number of sporting events outside of the Host City of Los Angeles, staging 11 sporting events for the Olympic Games and seven for the Paralympic Games.
