Long Beach Airport’s Rental Car Services Get First-Class Upgrade
Long Beach Airport is making it easier to land, grab your keys and go—thanks to the relocation of rental car services into a more comfortable and convenient space inside the Historic Terminal.
For more than three decades, picking up a rental car at Long Beach Airport meant heading outside to modular buildings. Now, those service counters are more intuitively located inside the Airport’s beloved Historic Terminal, just steps away from where passengers exit the concourse.
The move brings rental car operations into a larger, more comfortable setting with better flow for lines and customers, all while honoring the vintage charm of the building’s 1941 Streamline Moderne style.
The Historic Terminal recently underwent extensive seismic upgrades and restoration work, polishing its iconic look while preparing it for a new chapter. The former ticketing area has been reimagined as home base for rental car counters from Avis and Budget; Enterprise, National and Alamo; and Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty. Dollar and Thrifty are newcomers to Long Beach Airport, giving travelers even more choices when it’s time to hit the road.
Cars will still be picked up and dropped off in the lot directly across from the Historic Terminal, with clear signage guiding travelers every step of the way from plane to pavement. Rental car services will continue to operate during regular airline hours.
This relocation is one of the finishing touches on the Airport’s $125 million Phase II - Terminal Area Improvements Program, focused on smoothing the journey from curb to gate.
