Older Adult Program at Expo Arts Center Gets a New Lease on Life
The Older Adult Program is back in motion at the Expo Arts Center—welcoming adults 50+ for a weekly lineup of activities designed to boost mind, body, and community spirit.
After being closed since August for renovations, the refreshed Atlantic Avenue hub is open again from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, offering free programming for older adults through the Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine Department.
Improvements to the facility include the installation of LED lighting, rooftop solar panels and updated carpeting—eco-friendly upgrades that make the space brighter and more welcoming.
At the Expo Arts Center, participants enjoy programming that includes: aerobics, arts and crafts, birthday bingo, book club, line dancing, reflections class, social games and card playing, tai chi and yoga. Most days, there’s also a free lunch.
It’s one of six Older Adult Program locations in Long Beach, each with its own blend of arts, culture, fitness classes, enrichment workshops, social services, drop-in activities and volunteer opportunities.
