Bagpipes bellowed, flags flew at half-staff and the City of Long Beach fell quiet on September 11, 2025, to honor the thousands of lives lost in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Hosted by Mayor Rex Richardson and the City’s police and fire departments, Thursday morning’s ceremony drew the community together in reflection and remembrance. The program began with a ceremonial wreath-laying and Last Alarm tribute at 9:11 a.m., followed by a moment of silence, and closed with a bagpiper’s moving rendition of “Amazing Grace.”
Across Long Beach, people stopped to honor the victims, first responders and families whose lives were forever changed 24 years ago in New York, Pennsylvania and Northern Virginia.
The ceremony stood as a reminder that, even decades later, Long Beach continues to honor and remember.
The ceremony is available to watch below.
