Long Beach’s Davies Boat Launch Ramp Closes for Major Upgrades
Big upgrades are on the way for one of Long Beach’s busiest boat launch points. The City of Long Beach is preparing to temporarily close the Davies Boat Launch Ramp as part of a major improvement project at the well-used waterfront facility. Starting Monday, April 27, public access to the ramp, located at 6204 E. Marina Dr., will be shut down as construction gets underway.
The closure will extend through the fall and into winter, with reopening expected in early 2027. During that time, the launch ramp, adjacent parking lot and restrooms will all be off-limits while crews complete a series of much-needed upgrades. In the meantime, boaters are encouraged to explore other launch options throughout the city.
For many locals, the Davies Boat Launch Ramp has been a go-to spot for decades. Originally built in 1965, the facility continues to play a major role in Long Beach’s boating scene—serving nearly 28,000 users in 2025 alone. The upcoming improvements are designed to keep the ramp operating efficiently for years to come.
The project will focus on renovating the boat launch, restrooms, boat washing station and adding EV charging stations. Once complete, the refreshed facility is expected to better meet the needs of both recreational boaters and the broader waterfront community.
